Seeking Advice and Sharing Experiences with 3rd Gen Tundra

Hey fellow Tundra enthusiasts! I’m curious to know how many of you out there own or have owned a 2022+ Toyota Tundra, and I’m eager to hear your experiences. I’m particularly interested in:

  • General Ownership: How has your experience been so far? Are there any quirks or surprises you didn’t expect when getting into a 3rd gen?
  • Modifications: What kind of mods are you considering or have already made? I’m thinking about some enhancements but don’t want to go overboard, so any advice on what’s worked for you would be awesome.
  • Common Issues: Have you faced any issues or recalls that we should be aware of? The last thing I want is to be caught off guard if there’s something I should keep an eye on.
  • Performance Upgrades: Any recommended upgrades for improving performance? I’ve heard mixed reviews about some aftermarket parts.

I’d love to hear your opinions and experiences, whether it’s about daily driving, towing, or just the overall feel of the Tundra. Let’s get a discussion going! Feel free to share photos of your trucks too, I’m sure we’d all love to see some custom builds.

Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide! Looking forward to connecting with everyone here!

I’ve had serious issues with the engine knocking around 80k miles. Anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if it’s a common trend.

Yes! I’ve faced engine issues too, mainly with oil consumption. It seems like a lot of us are in the same boat here!

Transmission failures have been a regular topic for the 3rd Gen Tundra. Mine started acting up at 70k miles. Did anyone find a solid fix?

For me, a fluid change and checking the solenoids seemed to help temporarily. Still not ideal, though!

I’ve also dealt with some bizarre electrical system glitches. The dashboard lights flicker for no reason! Is there a known solution for this?

I’ve had similar issues! I found that replacing the battery and checking the fuses helped mine. Still, it’s concerning.

Definitely a mixed bag with these trucks. Some people love them; others keep pulling their hair out! What’s the best mod to stabilize these issues?

Honestly, a catch can was my saving grace for the engine problems. It’s made a noticeable difference!

It’s interesting how varied everyone’s experiences are. I think more people should be aware of potential problems before buying a 3rd Gen Tundra.

Agreed! Knowledge is power, especially when looking to purchase a used model.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how tough these trucks can be? Apart from the quirks, they handle off-roading like champs!

That’s true! My Tundra climbed like a goat, despite the looming engine issues.

Just to lighten things up - I swear my Tundra has a mind of its own! Sometimes it feels like it’s playing tricks on me.

Hey fellow Tundra owners! I’m excited to hear about your performance upgrades. I’ve been considering a suspension lift to improve off-road capability. Any recommendations?

For me, a 6-inch lift transformed my 3rd gen! I went with a Bilstein system, and it made a huge difference in both handling and clearance. Definitely worth it!

That’s awesome, Donna! I was also thinking about the wheel and tire upgrades. What sizes worked best for you all?

I have 33s on mine, and they fit perfectly with my lift! They really enhance both the look and traction. I’m also using Fuel wheels.

I agree! Just had a set of 35s installed with my lift. The ride is smoother than expected. Totally changes the game for off-roading!

What other mods have you done besides the lifts and tires? I’m curious if performance chips actually make a difference.
