Looking for 3rd Gen Tundra Owners - Share Your Tips & Mods!

I’ve got a tuning chip installed, and it really woke up my truck! Better throttle response and a nice boost in horsepower. Highly recommend it!

What brand did you use, cmartin? I might explore that route too.

I used a Bully Dog GT. It has great reviews for the 3rd gen Tundra and makes installation a breeze.

Support for that! But don’t forget the basics, like a good cold air intake. It’s a simple mod that complements performance upgrades well.

So many options! Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with choices. Anyone else feel the need to just restrain themselves when upgrading?

Just put on some aftermarket bumpers! They look great plus they’re really durable. Definitely an investment!

Bumpers are a solid choice! Just make sure it fits well with your lift and doesn’t add too much weight.

Hey everyone! I’m new to Tundra ownership, what are some best practices for maintaining our 3rd Gen models? I’m especially curious about oil changes and regular fluid checks.

Welcome, carol! For oil changes, I always recommend using synthetic oil; it lasts longer and keeps the engine running smoothly. And don’t forget to check the air filter regularly too!

Absolutely! Keeping an eye on fluids is key. I usually check my coolant and brake fluid every couple of months, especially before winter. Just a good habit to get into!

Great tip! I also recommend flushing the coolant every couple of years to prevent any gunk buildup.

Winter prep is crucial! I like to switch to winter tires and check the battery health as well; nothing worse than a dead battery in the cold!

I’ve heard lots about seasonal preparations. Is there a specific oil type to use in colder climates? Any brands you guys recommend?

I typically use Mobil 1 synthetic; it holds up well in various temperatures. Just check your owner’s manual for the specific viscosity recommended for your climate!

Another point I think is crucial—don’t forget to regularly check your brake pads! They can wear quicker if you’re towing or hauling often. Gotta keep those brakes sharp!

Exactly! And make sure to inspect the rotors too; you’ll extend the life of your brakes that way!

Is it just me, or do Tundras have a weird vibration when you hit the highway? Anyone else experience this? Maybe a maintenance thing?

I’ve felt it too! Often it’s linked to tire balancing or alignment issues. It’s worth checking out before you go on long trips.

Don’t worry, nancy! I once thought I had a ghost in my truck; turned out to just be my tires out of balance! Regular check-ups saved me from a panic!
