Personal Experiences

I’ve read through various forums and noticed a split in opinions. Some people swear by it, while others mention unexpected downsides. It would be great to get a better understanding of the community’s consensus before I make a purchase decision.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and insights! Your feedback could really help guide my decision.

I’ve been using Cerakote paint sealant for about a year now. The durability is impressive; it withstands weather changes really well! No major scratches either, even with regular use.

That’s great to hear! I’m particularly interested in how it holds up against UV exposure. Anyone have insights on that?

I can vouch for the UV resistance! My Cerakote has been outside for two summers, and it still looks brand new. Just keep it clean for better longevity.

Right, maintenance is key! How about the scratch resistance? Does it handle rough use?

Absolutely! I’ve accidentally dropped mine a couple times, and there hasn’t been a mark. However, it’s not entirely scratch-proof—just very resilient.

Sounds good! I’m learning a lot. Has anyone had any experience with it peeling over time?

No peel issues here! I’ve had it on for over two years, and it’s still intact. Just make sure it’s applied properly—application matters a lot.

Very true. I’ve seen some bad applications cause peeling. Has anyone tried it on vehicles?

Yes! I did a full vehicle wrap with Cerakote. Amazing protection, but don’t expect it to survive very extreme impacts without a trace!

Haha, that’s true! It’s a great sealant, but it’s not invincible! Just be smart about where you drive.

I’ve used Cerakote several times, and the key is definitely surface prep. Clean the surface thoroughly and sand it lightly. It makes a huge difference in adhesion!

Great advice! I’ve always found that using a degreaser before sanding really helps. Anyone else have tips for preps?

After prepping, I usually apply the Cerakote with a spray gun. Make sure to have a proper air compressor – it helps for an even coat.

Spray guns really do give the best finish. A friend of mine insists on using rattle cans, but the results aren’t as clean.

For those using spray guns, what size tip do you recommend? I’m trying to find the sweet spot between flow and control.

I typically use a .5mm tip for detail work and a .8mm for larger surfaces. It’s all about finding what works for your project!

Thanks for that info! Do you find that the airflow ratio changes the application quality?

Definitely! Adjusting the airflow can help with atomization and prevent runs. It’s a bit of trial and error initially.
