Recommendations for a Good GPS for Motorcycle Riding?

I’m in the market for a GPS device specifically for motorcycle use, and I’m looking for recommendations. Here are a few factors I’m considering:

Features I’m Looking For:

  • Weather-resistant: I ride in different weather conditions, so durability is a must.
  • Route optimization: I want something that can help me find the best routes, whether I’m on highways or scenic backroads.
  • User-friendly interface: I need a GPS that’s easy to read and operate while riding.
  • Mapping options: Options for both on-road and off-road navigation would be great.
  • Bluetooth compatibility: This would help in connecting to my helmet for hands-free directions.

Questions:

  • What GPS models have you tried and would recommend?
  • Are there any app options that work well for motorcyclists?
  • How do they perform in varying weather conditions?

Personal Use:

I’ve had a couple of experiences with basic standalone GPS units, and while they did the job, I feel like they weren’t tailored for motorcyclists. I’m especially interested in hearing about any products that are focused on enhancing the riding experience. Whether it’s feedback on a product you’ve used or features that you found particularly useful, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks in advance for your input! Looking forward to some great discussions!

I’ve been using the Garmin Zumo series and it’s amazing! The waterproofing is essential for those unexpected rain showers. Plus, you can easily read the screen even in direct sunlight!

Absolutely! You never know when the weather might change. A waterproof GPS can save your ride from turning into a disaster!

Don’t forget about Bluetooth connectivity! It’s great for hands-free calling and listening to music while you’re on the road. Really enhances the riding experience!

Screen visibility is definitely crucial. I had a cheap GPS once and struggled to see it during sunny days. Invest in a good one that’s easy to read!

Yes! I would recommend checking for anti-glare screens. Makes a huge difference on long rides.

Turn-by-turn navigation is a must-have! Getting lost while riding can be frustrating, and precise instructions are a lifesaver!

Absolutely! I once took a wrong turn that led me to the wrong side of town—never fun on a motorcycle.

Does anyone have experience with TomTom devices? I’m curious if they compare well with Garmin in terms of features and usability.

I’ve used TomTom in my car. It’s good, but I wonder if the motorcycle-specific features stack up?

I’d love a GPS that also tracks my routes and offers scenic route suggestions. Anyone know if any brands do that?

I have a theory: the more gadgets we add to our bikes, the less we actually pay attention to the road! But I guess a good GPS keeps us on track?

Looking for a good GPS for motorcycle riding? I highly recommend the Garmin Zumo 396 LMT-S. It’s designed specifically for bikes and has a rugged build. Plus, it offers lifetime maps and real-time traffic updates!

I’ve been using the TomTom Rider 550, and it’s fantastic! Easy to use and has voice commands. I love the route planning feature too!

The Zumo is great, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about its touch sensitivity, especially with gloves on. Does anyone else have experience with this?

I haven’t noticed that issue with the Zumo, but I usually use a stylus. For those interested, the screen is brighter than most, which helps in sunlight. Anyone tried the new Garmin Zumo XT?

I’ve been eyeing the Zumo XT as well. It supposedly has better battery life and more off-road maps. Could it be the ultimate GPS for adventure rides?
