Anyone installed a 4runner sliding cargo tray? Need help!

Does anyone have experience with rust? I live in a humid area and I’m worried about the metal components. Any preventative measures?

I live in a wet area too! A good wax coating on exposed metal parts can help prevent rust formation. Just make sure it’s suitable for automotive use.

That’s solid advice. But I’ve also heard using a spray-on rust inhibitor works great for long-term protection.

Cleaning can be boring, but I like to make it fun! Sometimes I blast music while taking care of my tray. Any tips to make it more exciting?

Haha, I love that idea! Maybe we should start a 4Runner cleaning dance challenge!

I’ve had a sliding tray for a couple of years now, and I’ve encountered some squeaking noises. Anyone else dealt with that? Suggestions?

Squeaking is common. Make sure to lubricate the tracks properly and check if anything is misaligned. That usually helps.

How often do you all lubricate the tray? I’ve been doing it every few months, but wondering if that’s enough.

Every couple of months sounds good! But if you use it heavily, monthly might be better. Just listen to what your tray needs!

I once let mine get so dirty I thought it was broken when it was just gunked up. Lesson learned: clean it regularly!

I’ve installed the Arctic Adventure sliding cargo tray in my 4Runner. It’s super durable and has a great weight capacity! Highly recommend it.

That sounds great! Is it easy to install? I need something that doesn’t require too much effort.

The install was pretty straightforward. Just a few bolts and you’re good to go. The tray’s also got a non-slip surface, which I really like.

I’m considering the Tuffy Security Products tray. Seems durable, but it’s more expensive than others. Is it worth the extra cost?

The Tuffy tray is definitely worth it if you prioritize security and long-lasting materials. I’ve had mine for over a year with zero issues!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the factory option. Some say it’s not as durable as aftermarket. Anyone tested both?

I can confirm that! I had a factory tray that broke after a few rough outings. Aftermarket is definitely the way to go.

Interesting! What’s the price range for a good aftermarket sliding tray? I’m on a budget.

You can find decent options starting from $200. Check out brands like RCI Offroad or Pelope for good value.

Thanks for the tip! Do they have a warranty?
